Arte medieval en Bohemia: visita del Convento de Santa Inés con guía privado – A1

Puede que resulte sorprendente para algunos que la colección de arte medieval de la Galería Nacional sea una de las mejores a nivel mundial (solo hay otra colección en Italia de semejante valor). Se presenta en el ámbito de un monasterio medieval del siglo XIII, lo que eleva al cuadrado el valor de nuestro recorrido durante el que podremos contemplar sus obras más sobresalientes.

Para empezar haremos una breve introducción sobre el contexto de la época y el canon artístico de sus pinturas, y luego nos ocuparemos de cada obra en particular: muchas de ellas son realmente extraordinarias, y ha sido precisamente en los territorios de la Corona Checa, además de en Italia, donde se ha conservado el mayor número de pinturas sobre tabla a nivel mundial, por lo que tendremos que elegir.

Podremos admirar las obras del maestro Teodorico, pintor de la corte de Carlos IV, que a su modo es completamente singular, y cuyo trabajo no cesa de despertar admiración seis siglos después. Veremos dos notables ciclos pictóricos sobre tabla, uno de ellos del maestro del altar de Třeboň, representativo del “estilo cortesano”, al que en el contexto de Europa Central se denomina “bello”. Y realmente hace honor a esta denominación. Las obras pictóricas y escultóricas creadas en los territorios de la Corona Checa en aquel entonces eran conocidas por Europa bajo la denominación de “Imago de Praga”, lo que se consideraba una marca de excelencia reconocida. Para terminar tendremos un breve cambio de impresiones sobre cómo impactaron en la creación artística los acontecimientos de la reforma husita y la llegada del Renacimiento.

Le Palais royal – l'ancienne résidence des souverains de Bohême, c'est-à-dire des dynasties antérieures aux Habsbourg, attire le visiteur non seulement par sa splendide architecture de style gothique tardif, mais aussi par certaines de ses salles, notamment celle de la Diète, de style Renaissance, ainsi que celle des Registres fonciers et celle où eut lieu la fameuse défenestration des gouverneurs en 1618.

Saint George´s Basilica – this Romanesque basilica from the 10th century is the embodiment of Middle Ages and one of the oldest churches in the entire Czech Lands. Saint Ludmila, the grandmother of Saint Wenceslas and the most honoured patron of the Czech Lands, is buried there.

La Ruelle d'or – formée d’une rangée de maisonnettes multicolores, ce n'est sans doute pas par hasard qu'elle fut choisie comme demeure par l'écrivain F. Kafka ; il s'agit d'un des recoins les plus connus et les plus pittoresques de la ville.

LA BIBLIOTHEQUE DU MONASTERE DE STRAHOV

…one of the world´s most beautiful historic libraries: you can visit two halls, one dedicated to theology and one to philosophy. Both halls host richly adorned Baroque libraries, astonishing frescos and impressive stucco ceilings. The oldest book deposited there is from the ninth century, a time when the Czech state hadn´t even existed…

NOTRE-DAME DE LORETTE

…a pilgrimage place dedicated to Virgin Mary, a Baroque sight at the heart of which there is a small copy of a house where the Virgin Mary was born. Every hour the graceful melody of Loreto chimes invites the ears of visitors to this place. A Baroque arcade, chapels, a small church dedicated to the Nativity of the Lord and a Treasury are also part of this sight. The treasury houses a legendary monstrance called “The Prague Sun” – a dazzling masterpiece decorated with six thousand diamonds.

SOUTHERN GARDENS

….are terrace gardens with pavilions and Baroque fountains. A pathway down to The Lesser Town (Malá Strana) district leads down through these gardens. This tour can be completed at the entrance to them – the guide will tell you something about this charming green labyrinth before you enter it. You are going to leave the gardens by an exit situated very close to the main square of The Lesser Town – Malostranské square. The pathway out of the gardens will lead you right in front of the Valdštejnský palace, the seat of the Senate. Its own gardens with stunning views of the Prague Castle are also one of the most memorable sights for visitors of Prague. Note: In order to enter the Southern terrace gardens you have to pay a fee. The entrance to the Valdštejnský palace gardens is for free.
